Boredom, loneliness, anxiety. A lot of negative emotions are currently being shouted around on social media. We need to remember the one thing we will never lose and that is the LOVE. Stick together and fight the Corona side-effects together, lovers.
As post-lockdown divorce cases spike in China, alarm bells are ringing for sweethearts worldwide and for those working in the wedding industry. The virus might well leave a bitter aftertaste of lost love.
Reliable as ever, The Daily Mail informs us that “Officials in Fuzhou, Fujian Province of southern China, have adjusted the number of divorce appointments to 10 couples a day after receiving an overwhelming amount of requests”
Living together can be tough at the best of times but with a nationwide lockdown looming, things could get a lot tougher if couples don’t act wisely. Here are some tips on how to keep it sexy in a time of hand sanitiser and UHT milk:
GET IN THE BATH
Never has taking a bath or shower with your other half been a better idea. Steamy + hygienic. To quote Bob Marley, “Spread love, not Covid-19”.
GET THE VIBES RIGHT
You’re at home so you won’t be subjected to dining to an Ibiza lounge music soundtrack on repeat, perching on upside down crates, inappropriately friendly waiters or eating your spaghetti from a slate, but, that doesn’t mean you can forgo the all important dinner vibe.
Keep it together & keep it atmospheric: candles, good lighting, nice smells, fresh flowers, eating at the table, good wine/beer (order from your local pub who might be offering a delivery/pick-up service!), your favourite music & home-cooked immune system boosting food.
TAKE CARE IN YOUR APPEARANCE
Ladies & Gentlemen, online sales are buzzing right now. Before the postman starts working from home (advisable for him/her), get those new underwear orders in.
Strut around the house in discounted new robes, head to toe. Yes we are at home all day but we are the best looking couple in this house, so glam and such good value.
LEARN SOMETHING NEW
Wednesday morning, you go upstairs after breakfast to do your working from home. Back downstairs that evening… whip out your newly learnt fluent Spanish. Serenade your partner with a rendition on the guitar more moving than Queen performing at Live Aid in ‘85. Flex out the most impressive yoga move they’ve ever seen.
All that time they thought you were on a conference call with Julie from accounts but actually you were just becoming a skilled and talented hero. Ambition is hot!
COUPLE WORKOUTS
Get your minds out of the gutter! We mean running, walking, cycling together… anything that gets you in the fresh air & feeling a little bit of life again. Endorphins make you feel sexy & increase the libido, fact!
Also make sure to get out for that run or walk alone occasionally. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
GO ALL IN
You’re saving so much money not going out to that concert or to the pub tonight; turn the heating up, rack up a hefty gas bill & play strip poker.
Your mind will stay sharp, you can wear sunglasses to hide your tears of virus anxiety & you can drool at your partner’s sexy display (looking finer than usual thanks to lack of nights at the pub & their new found love for jogging).
YOU AREN’T ALONE
Let’s face it. Dating isn’t going to be a thing for a few months. You better love the one you're with & make the most of it. Maybe propose for something to do? (We jest. Make sure you like them first.)
GATHER WEDDING INSPIRATION
Free time? Completed all of the the above suggestions? (well done, our pleasure).
Why not hit Pinterest hard. Gather ideas and fire them at you wedding planner. This time could really produce some beautiful & unique weddings, full of your ideas. Be careful not to over-do it though - more inspired ideas popping to mind rather than notebooks and planning sessions so you don’t go mad! Over colour-coded note books are usually not a turn-on , they belong to your wedding planner/divorce lawyer.
